A missionary. A volunteer. A promise. United.
Our journey together begins in July, 2007 in the Dominican Republic. Nathan was serving as professor on the Latin American Traveling Theological Educator (LATTE) team for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and I arrived as a WELS Kingdom Workers’ volunteer to teach English in Santiago. We worked together using the English program as a tool to reach out to the community with the local congregations sharing the love of our Savior Jesus Christ.
After a year and a half, Nathan asked me out on a first date. Six weeks later, we were engaged. We married in April, 2009 in Thiensville, Wisconsin followed by a honeymoon in Tanzania and Malawi, Africa made possible by family and friends.
Upon our return to the US, we received news that our mission destination was no longer Brazil, but México. Several days later, malaria hit. After a full recovery, we consolidated our belongings with a road trip from Wisconsin to Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas to Phoenix, Arizona.
In July, 2009 we arrived in Torreón, Coahuila, México to begin our new life and ministry together. We relocated to León, Guanajuato, México for security precautions in April, 2010 where Nathan continues to serve as a LATTE Professor and Friendly Counselor for Brazil. We have enjoyed both blessings and challenges in settling into our new home(s) and look forward to each day together… wherever the Lord leads us.
We are hoping to stay connected through this blog with friends and family by sharing stories, photos, and videos of our life.
Enjoy and share any comments or inquiries.

Hi Julia,
I’ve enjoyed your blog and getting to know you by way of this awesome technolgy. Thank you so much for the photos on CD for the missions dept. Nikky and I (mostly Nikky) are working on organizing them. It has been wonderful learning all the “in and outs” of the world and home missions; every day brings new challenges. I look forward to following your blog.
Truly, Peg
