Overnight French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 4 Tbs butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 eggs – beaten
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Prepare night before serving
  2. Cut bread into 3/4″ slices
  3. Melt butter & brown sugar, stir constantly
  4. Pour into 9″ x 13″ baking dish
  5. Lay bread slices on top
  6. Combine beaten eggs, milk, & cinnamon
  7. Pour over bread
  8. Cover with foil
  9. Refrigerate overnight
  10. Preheat oven to 350 F in the morning
  11. Uncover baking
  12. Bake for 25-30 minute
  13. Serve with fruit

Note: Recipe is sweet enough with brown sugar, maple syrup topping isn’t needed.  I did top with fresh raspberries and blackberries – a perfect combination with this french toast recipe.  For a sweeter topping, we did try hazelnut butter with a touch of chocolate.  Another great combination.
